                | MATH 1114 - Introduction to Statistics Credits: 4
 
 Catalog Description
 This is an introductory course in data description and analysis using graphical and numerical methods. Students will work with discrete and continuous random variables and their probability distributions with emphasis on the normal distribution. Topics include: experimental design and sampling methods; confidence intervals, sample size, and hypothesis testing for one and two population means or proportions; t and z tests, chi-square tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and linear regression; and use of statistical software.
 
 Prerequisite(s) (must have a grade of C or better): Any of the following:
 
	Completion of MATH 0230  or MATH 0240  Placement and concurrent registration in MATH 0140  MATH 0250/MATH 1100/MATH 1114 Placement or equivalentAlgebra College LevelMATH 1201/1210 Placement or equivalentMATH 1400 Placement or equivalentA score of 3 on Advanced Placement test for Calculus AB or BC
