SOC 1111 - Introduction to Sociology Credits: 3
Catalog Description This course is an introduction to the scientific study of human behavior in groups and the social forces that shape society and socially construct reality. The course gives special attention to the application of sociological theories, research, and analysis of the social world. Topics include, but are not limited to, methods of research, major sociological theory, culture, socialization, group dynamics and interaction, deviance, and crime; social stratification and inequality; race and ethnicity; and gender and sexuality; the family and social institutions; and social change.
