- Compare nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation/analgesia with other pain control and sedation methods.
- Describe the correct patient assessment, equipment design, titration techniques, and steps for administering nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation/analgesia.
- Explain the physical properties and pharmacokinetics of nitrous oxide and its interactions with body systems.
- Describe the anatomy and physiology of respiration and its relation to nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation/analgesia.
- Identify the signs and symptoms of nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation/analgesia and describe recovery considerations.
- Recognize the abuse potential of nitrous oxide and biohazards for healthcare personnel from chronic exposure.
- Demonstrate competency in administering nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation/analgesia in a supervised clinical setting and complete appropriate charting and recordkeeping.
