ART 1165 - Introduction to Black and White Film Photography Credits: 3
The course introduces students to black and white silver gelatin FILM photography. This is a darkroom course that covers camera operation, film types, film developing, photo printing, and darkroom experience. Photographic styles and history, aesthetic understanding, and the social impact of the medium will also be covered. Students will learn how to use photography as a creative tool for self-expression and social exploration. A course fee is required and additional costs may be incurred based on individual student need. See course notes in eServices or contact the instructor for additional information. The Art department has cameras available for students to check out. Students should be prepared to work in the studio outside of class periodically during the semester.
