ART 1241 - Introduction to Painting


Credits: 3

The course introduces the student to painting techniques and history. The course covers canvas preparation, basic color theory, and visual theory. It also covers a range of painting approaches, from traditional realism to abstraction. Painting I will introduce various artists’ styles and art movements. This course will focus on personal expression in addition to an emphasis on technical skill. Students will work on exercises in class as well as independently. A course fee is required and additional costs may be incurred based on individual student need. See course notes in eServices or contact the instructor for additional information. Students must be prepared to work in the studio outside of class periodically during the semester.
