GERM 1102 - Beginning German Language and Culture II Credits: 5
The second in a four-semester (two-year) sequence. GERM 1102 builds on the grammar and skills acquired in German I and involves more complex grammatical forms such as object pronouns and practice of the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Emphasis is placed upon correct oral expression, grammatical constructions, and aural comprehension, particularly in the past tense. Students also examine aspects of German culture in German-speaking countries and in Germany as illustrated in the text and through multi-media presentations, which may include historical, social, and cultural topics.
Recommended Skills, Abilities, or Coursework: GERM 1101 or two years of German in high school with a score of 180 or higher on the German Placement test.
